Hello everyone!
I hope your packing went well :)
Here is our list of needs from the SouthFork Ward
to finish off our suitcases:
Female Missionary-
dresses
stockings
Bras
Male Missionary-
suits (which I think will be sent seperately right?)
Aftershave
Both-
Sheets
Wash cloths
Quad Scriptures
Something to think about: There were no "dress shoes" on either male or female lists...we ended up with a lot of women's appropriately heeled shoes and three men's black pairs- I put them in a box labeled "dress shoes"

Packing Instructions
Sue just received some specific packing instructions from Reeve, Lolly and CC. They are posted on a link to the right as PACKING INSTRUCTIONS so you can print them out if you need to.
THANK-YOU to everyone that came to our meeting last week. Our project has truly taken flight! I am most grateful for the way you have all relied on the Spirit for your own wards participation. When we do that greater things happen. As each of you put together suitcases, remember to post if you need additional things to complete them. I know that all together we will have all we need. Each ward will be responsible either alone or along with the wards in your buildings to get the items to the humanitarian center

Donated Items Available to Complete Suitcases
Hello Everyone,
The Swanson Foundation has donated
100 Sets of Sheets (new in plastic)
100 Hand towels (new)
100+ bars of soap
100 Blankets (new in plastic)
If there are any of you that need any of these things to complete
missionary suitcases I would be happy to get some to you. We will be
putting some together for our ward but I think there will be plenty to
go around.
If you email me or or call before our meeting on the 23rd I could
even bring them to you then. If you need them earlier, let me know and I
could meet you.
They also donated a lot of small first aid kits that could go into a 72 hour kit if anyone needs any of those.
Please let me know what is needed.
Thanks,
Whitney Vickery Cell 307-248-1377 Email awvickery@hotmail.com

Donations are Pouring In and Piling Up
Wow! It's way exciting and almost overwhelming to see the donations pouring in, especially at Valley Market. Today when I went in, both boxes at the entrance were full and they had four shopping carts in the back that were chuck full. And then as my son and I were loading it all into the back of the car, a sweet lady pulled up beside us and said, "Oh, am I too late to donate?" She had just stopped by to drop off a few bags.
Tonight our young men came over and started sorting things in my garage. It kind of put things in perspective as we saw all the work they had done and then looked at the remaining pile and tried to imagine ever getting through it all. Looking forward to our meeting next week to brainstorm how to manage it all.
It's fun! What a great project!

I just want to thank everyone for your support at our fireside on Sunday! It was great and very well attended. I think we have some real momentum going. The box in Valley market and the article in the paper has given us some great contacts! Thanks! I am going to schedule a meeting at the bunkhouse
after school starts on August 23, Thursday @ 7:00pm. Please be taking pictures and bring any you have, I want to make the first part of a video for September 29th women's conference. I would also love any stories you are aware of.
We need to share ideas again and make some plans for transporting and packing the containers. Bring any other ideas you have to our meeting as that's where it all begins- thanks to you, our project has taken wings!!!
Love, Sue

Scarlet's Naturals
Hey :) My sis-in-law Desiree Loud Ferrin came to our last meeting and offered her assistence and cooperation for our project. She wanted me to post her site so that you can she what she has to offer.
ScarletsNaturals.com She can also be contacted at sales@scarletsnaturals.com
Being an online business owner has given her some great contacts in that realm and she says if you're just curious about other products, containers, shipping arrangements etc. she will be so happy to answer questions, do some reasearch or find a better price for anything you're looking for in the efforts towards Zimbabwe.
And to all who made it to the fireside. . . aren't we incredibly lucky to be a part of such an amazing work!! Thank you Sue, Reeve, CC and Lolli! :)
Best wishes :)

Box at Market/Newspaper Article
Great news! Terry is graciously allowing us to place a box near the entrance at Valley Market to collect items for Zimbabwe. He'll provide the box tomorrow (Saturday, the 28th) and I'll place some signage there for people to see and it'll be ready to go.
Also, watch for an article in the next edition of the Ogden Valley News. It will be an overview of the project with a list of needed items. If you have specific ideas for the next two or three editions of the paper, please let me know or contact the gals at the newspaper.

Updates
It's been a whirlwind since our last meeting. Reeve, Lolly and CC are in town! This is just to give you final details about our fireside on Sunday night. It will begin at 7:00 in the white Eden building. The bishops and Relief Society presidents have all been invited but reminders never hurt! It will be so great! Thanks Whitney for doing the musical number! For those of you that missed the meeting, we are excited for the opportunity to gather books for school libraries in the bush of Africa. We are asking that you put the books in boxes and label them with your Ward name. This will be delivered to a little school and have your ward name on it as being the donor and will be their whole library! Pretty fun. I am also so excited that we can put our name and email contact information on the missionary bags - how fun to hear where your clothing will be serving! Just a reminder that donations (over $250) can be made out to Deseret International a registered NGO, with Eyes for Zimbabwe written on the bottom. They will cash the checks, send you a receipt for taxes, and then send us the money to use for the project. Also, Huntsville 2nd ward is looking for cotton fabric to sew dresses if you have any call Sharon Wangsgard @ 745-3423. Becca, could you put a little information about what Desiree talked about on this blog? Thanks. Let me know if you have any questions! I appreciate all your help! Sue

Thank you Cori for posting all those things! This is to let you know we are going to meet on Thursday, July 19th as scheduled. It will be held at the bunkhouse at 7:00 pm. the bunkhouse is next to my house on 3141 North River Drive, Eden. (The first house on the right off of Highway 162 going north. We have a beam entry and a long driveway down.) Please bring any ideas you have, any samples or patterns, whatever you have that you think can help all of us! I am so excited for all you are doing!!! I will call you to remind any who may not get this message.
The next thing we are SO EXCITED about is that Reeve, Lolly, and CC have been approved to give a fireside on July 29th at 7:00 at the Eden Building!!! It will be so great and they will be able to answer any questions you might have! They are darling and so fun and motivating! We are inviting of course, all of you on the committee and any who you have helping you, the bishoprics and the relief society presidencies. I think you could let anyone come you think. We will talk more about this on Thursday night.
Thanks so much for your enthusiasm, I truly believe in the Spirit of this great cause. Hopefully it will unite our wards and stake with another common goal.

Mormon Times Video
The clip at the end of this video segment is about the containers that were sent last year from Utah. The segment begins six minutes and 45 seconds into the video. Simply click and drag the time marker beneath the video to 6:45. As Sue mentioned in her email, it would be a good one to show to the different organizations in the ward.

Next meeting
Hi Sisters, A BIG thank you to Cory Hansen for creating this blog.
This is a heads up to the committee. We are having another meeting June 19th at 7:00 pm at the Stake Center. We have already had some 'tender mercies' with this project.
Come with your ideas that you have discussed in your wards. We will use this meeting as a way to exchange information/ideas and also meet everyone on the committee.
Thank you for all you do.
